This place is so good - an amazing location with panoramic views out of both sides of the cabin and close enough to Bruton to be able to walk down there. Susan is a fantastic host and has obviously given a lot of thought and attention to setting this place up. The bed is amazingly comfortable and the cabin is super warm (we went in January). All round perfection!

Jo December 2018

Absolutely loved our stay! Gorgeous views, the constant rain only made us appreciate Happy on the Hill. A perfect escape!

 Charlotte December 2018

What a delightful 2 night stay we had for a birthday celebration. We could not have been made to feel more comfortable, with every detail thought about. The very generous amount and quality of food left was very much appreciated. Could have easily stayed for much longer and sad about having to leave for the real world. Will certainly be back again soon!

 Tom November 2018

We have stayed at HOTH twice now and have no doubt we’ll be back again. Great hosts and a perfect place to unwind.

 Mette November 2018

Beautiful wagon with great views. Susan and Neil are great hosts and provides excellent information about the place and things to do. The bed was big and comfy and the breakfast was all local produce. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to lay in the big tub and enjoy the views. Maybe next time - it a place you want to come back to.Dear Susan and Neil. Thank you so much for a great stay at your lovely wagon. It’s absolutely beautiful. And the breakfast was so tasty with all the local products. I will definitely recommend you to anyone .

 Jennifer November 2018

We had a wonderful couple of days in this very special place, great walks, good food, fantastic views. Very warm and cosy.

 Lauren October 2018

A comfy place to stay, amazing breakfast food provided, beautiful views and handy suggested walks of the surrounding area.

Thank you for letting me stay and for all the amazing breakfast things and the cake, I really enjoyed my stay and appreciated the peace and quiet the wagon had to offer. Thank you :-)

 Helen  October 2018

The wagon is a beautiful little haven overlooking amazing countryside. We went in the Autumn and had a rainy day while we were there, it was still so lovely watching the rain over the fields from our cosy spot next to the fire. We can’t wait to come again x

 Emily  October 2018

A lovely place to get away from it all - very quiet, peaceful and cosy, with lovely thoughtful touches from the hosts.

 Jo September 2018

Gabriel's wagon is the perfect setting for a quiet, romantic & cosy getaway. We only had 2 nights here but we're so sad to leave and would've loved to stay longer. The comfiest bed we've ever slept in and the wood burner keeps it so warm and toasty, we even had a bubble bath with a view of the countryside! Can't wait to come back here x

Absolutely amazing little place to stay, cosy, peaceful and the personal touches made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be booking another stay here, a very special retreat and just what we needed for a couple of nights away from the craziness of home life with 6 kids .

 Gavin September 2018

We had a most relaxing stay in Gabriel’s Wagon. It is a wonderful space with lots of personality and the views are breathtaking. It provided the perfect antithesis to our daily life in London. Our planned cycle was cancelled due to inclement weather so we hunkered down and throughly enjoyed doing very little. The surrounding area has some great places to eat out – Roth Bar & Grill and At the Chapel being our highlights. Susan was a fantastic host and the little welcoming touches she had prepared for our arrival were most thoughtful. I'm confident we'll be making a return trip.

Martin 2018

A perfect, quaint and quirky sanctuary in a scenic countryside setting. We wanted space and quiet away from hectic and busy work and social life’s and this is exactly what we got. Loads of fields, footpaths and bridle ways to walk our dog who enjoyed the break as much as her two humans.

Fiona September 2018

We loved Gabriels Wagon and the location. The little touches of local food items was really appreciated and added to our stay, as were the natural toiletries and cleaning products. We really managed to switch off and enjoy the space and local area. The bath was amazing with the views and the deck was a lovely place to sit day and night. We loved the whole experience and would happily come back. We have also already recommended it to a few of our friends. Thanks so much. Its the perfect place to relax and take in the views and fresh air as well as being close to cute local towns. (We ate at the Chapel and it was amazing.) Thanks so much for everything. Thanks so much for all the little touches. It made it feel homely and was nice to feel like you support the local economy & keep your impact on the planet as small as possible. We enjoyed the cake, bread, toiletries, jams and juice.

 Jacqueline August/ September 2018

The cabin is a very comfortable rural retreat in the heart of the countryside. Susan goes out of her way to make your stay special; flowers on the table, a delicious cake, bread, eggs and homemade preserves. Would recommend to other travellers who want to get away from it all and relax! Thank you for all the lovely extra touches, delicious cake, bread, jams etc, very much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay in your quirky cabin, cosy, comfortable and relaxing!

 Jojo August 2018

I don’t want to spoil the surprise of just exactly what greets you as you go thru the gate...but oh my goodness i could not have imagined even from the pictures how lovely this place actually feels as it warms you right thru at first glance! incredibly luxurious, comfortable, sink into sofa or hot baths....its everything we hoped for and more, and the welcome we received from Neil and Susan was warm and made us feel we could unwind and just be ourselves. do go....and spoil yourself rotten!!

Thank you. Jill and I felt so warmly invited and welcomed into what seems to be a very special "something" on the hill, that you obviously enjoyed sharing with us and making our time the special relaxation that we needed.

 Katie August 2018

Gabriel’s Wagon offered a wonderful short break from reality. The never ending views over the Somerset countryside can’t be beaten. The attention to detail, clear and detailed guides, instructions and helpful advice given was all fantastic. Susan and Neil are doing a fabulous job at Happy on the Hill, their lovely dog, Buzz, was a favourite with our own puppy. It’s the small details and sense of luxury that add something extra to an already very unique place to stay. Great location with easy connections to surrounding towns and villages. A real treat.

Andrea August 2018

If you need a break from 'life' this is the place to visit. It is simply perfect! Susan and Neil provide everything you could possibly need for a peaceful and extremely comfy stay, not forgetting the tasty treats which welcome you. Both myself and my pooch, Poppy were made to feel extremely welcome. The surrounding area is stunning and the local village of Bruton has all the essentials. A visit to the pub,Castle Bruton, is a must. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is fab, as are the pizzas at In the Chaple. This is a real must if you have a bucket list of places to visit or simply need to escape.

 James August 2018

Susan and Neil were excellent hosts and are owners of the most wonderful wagon you could dream of. A cute and cosy country kitchen feel interior surrounded by picturesque countryside and thoughtful small touches which added a touch of luxury. If you're looking for a cute getaway in the middle of the countryside then you really shouldn't look further than here. I can't recommend Gabriel's Wagon highly enough and look forward to returning in the near future.

 Diana August 2018

If you need to step off the treadmill of life for a few days this is the place. It's beautiful, remote, peaceful and quirky. Susan and Neil have thought of everything and a few more things besides! It's a really special place and we will be back.

 Bjorn July 2018

What a charming place! Where to start? The most lovely and warm hosts; the delicious bread, jams, eggs and milk for the first breakfast; the location (what a view!); the bathtub with the window facing the garden; the walks you can take around the place; in the middle of one of the most blessed landscapes on earth. The transformed old train wagon is the cosiest airbnb I have ever stayed in. The attention to detail shows the love the hosts put into creating this place. If I could, I'd give more than five stars. I highly recommend it.

Nicola July 2018

A real gem of a place! Such a peaceful and beautiful setting to relax in!. The wagon is cosy and well equipped and a perfect place to totally unwind! Lots of personal touches- the lemon drizzle was divine! We stayed as a couple with our newborn and our dog& there was plenty of space for us all- the dog loved having the garden to roam freely and the baby slept like a dream! 4G coverage was excellent too!

 Camilla July 2018

Susan’s place was incredible with gorgeous views, a lovely fire pit, comfy bed, luxurious roll top bath. What made it for us though was all the small touches and effort she has put in to make it feel homely. These include fresh cut flowers, homemade jams, super soft bed linen, firewood, delicious breakfast ingredients... the list goes on. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, we hope to be back :)

 Keryl July 2018

Happy on the Hill is such a special place. Situation in a beautiful location, perched on the hill overlooking the gorgeous Somerset countryside. This is our third visit and we will be back. Inside is comfortable, clean, environmentally conscious and there are many little thoughtful touches. This is a place to relax, unwind and just be.

 Katharine July 2018

Amazing location amazing views, we had a tranquil stay enjoying the sun rises and sunsets, you step out into wonderful walks, or sit back and just take it all in. Perfect.

Domingo July 2018

You have to see it to believe what an uncommonly special place this is. Writing this is making me emotional because i just want to go back. You will experience a little hit of wonder and harmony and total peace. Neil and Susan do ten times more than they need to to make every little detail up on the hill conducive to the loveliest experience. I won't say more because you have to go and take my word for it to see it for yourself. Really.

Fiona June 2018

The most magical place nestled under huge oak trees. A true gem of a find. The hosts are incredibly kind and thoughtful and have put a lot of love into this superb old wagon. Would return in a heartbeat. Don’t want to give too much away but fare to say you will not be disappointed booking this place. Our hounds adored it too and were made to feel right at home. If I could give 10 stars I would. Can’t wait to return.

Minal June 2018

Excellent!! Stayed here while our friends stayed in the cabin next door. We’ll be back, and we’d recommend the place to anyone who’s looking - it’s a perfect getaway.

Enid May 2018

Gabriel's Wagon is in such a peaceful setting with beautiful countryside down to the village of Lamyatt. The walks in the area and around Bruton are so lovely, quiet and great for dogs. The wagon was very cosy and well equipped with lots of special touches such as the flowers and little lavender bags on the bed. The bed was superb, I didn't want to get up in the mornings as it was so comfortable and the bamboo sheets are really soft and warm. My cocker spaniel also had a great time and appreciated the dog biscuits! I could write so much more but better stop now! Thank you Susan and Neil for being such great hosts.

Scott May 2018

Susan is a lovely host and made us feel right at home! This place is really quirky with lovely views from every angle. The quality of produce at breakfast was excellent, we all loved our stay and will return soon. Thank you guys

Michelle May 2018

We’ve hands down had the best couple of nights away at Gabriel’s cabin. The perfect touches created by Susan and Neil have made this trip so memorable. Our puppy enjoyed every minute and didn’t want to leave. We can’t wait to return. X

What an lovely place. It's clear that Susan and Neil have put alot of thought and care into designing this place, and it's a very welcoming, cosy little wagon. It is small, but can comfortably accomodate 2 people and a dog for a few days. The bed is incredibly comfy, and the fire warms up the whole place really well. It's well equipped, and if you do need anything additional the owners are more than happy to help. The covered decking is lovely, and allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the rain without getting wet ourselves! The views from the wagon are wonderful, and the field accesible from the end of the secure garden is perfect for giving the dog a walk. To top it all a nice little campfire reminded me of my days back in the scouts. All in all a great place. We can't wait to come back!

Abbie January 2018 A lovely little place to relax for a few days. Felt like we were in our own little world! The delicious locally made bread, apple juice, eggs, and cake were a very nice touch.

Gabriel's wagon is the perfect romantic getaway. Beautiful spot in the country, within good walks to two lovely local towns. Susan is an amazing host, who really goes the extra mile. The fire was lit for our arrival and the breakfast goodies are lovely. I especially enjoyed the homemade granola. The wagon is equipped with everything you need and has been beautifully decorated. The roll top bath is a treat too! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay and would have happily stayed longer. We recommend this place to anyone who loves the country and cosy romantic getaways! 5 stars. Victoria Sheppard Jones.  January 2017

Hi Susan, Thanks so much for letting us stay, and for your offered rescue help! We absolutely loved the trip and would love to come back sometime soon for a longer stay. It was completely idealic, and the little touches around the wagon make it really lvoely. It was very welcoming on arrival, and a very cosy space. We especially liked the booklets you left for local reccomednations, although we didn't plan on doing anything at all whilst we were there, but we definitely will next time! Mulvey gobbled up his dog treats, and so I'll thank you on his behalf. There are a few suggestions we have of things that would make the stay even more fantastic, feel free to completely ignore them. - It would be nice to have some bigger glasses (we like our g&t's in generous portions - Would be nice to have more than one tea-towel (I'm not sure if there was another one hiding somewhere) - The towels in the bathroom smelt quite odd, perhaps musty or damp? Thanks again for creating such a lovely space, and letting people enjoy it. Ps. The bed is sooo comfy! Pps. Mulvey enjoyed meeting Raffy and Buzz in the field

David And Fred 1 - 4 December 2017

Fantastic place to say. We love unique properties like this, everything was thought out from luxurious bamboo bed sheets to the beautifully chopped wood for the log burner. The area is so peaceful and quiet with great walks and wildlife. Everything was perfect for a quiet few days away.

We unfortunately ended up being ill during our stay, but still had an amazing time! We couldn't have asked for a better place to just chill out in. The view was amazing, the wood burner was really easy to light and kept the wagon nice and warm. The breakfast ingredients were lovely, and the view outside the cabin were amazing. Susan and Neil were fantastic hosts - we loved meeting them and their dogs!

Emily 13 - 15 October 2017

I loved having a soak in the roll top bath and then ducking back in to the cosy atmosphere of the wagon heated by the wood burner. Gorgeous views to wake up to and explore in the morning and the perfect porch for watching an open fire at twilight. I hope to be back! this place was perfect, exactly as I imagined from the listing, thank you for being such welcoming and considerate hosts

Ana-Marie 29 Sep - 1 October 2017

Wow... where do I start. This has got to be one of the best places I've stayed in. The little details, homemade Jams, cakes, organic toiletries everything was just perfect. If you enjoy being outside, log burners, birdsong, outstanding views and long leisurely walks, all wrapped up in a beautiful carriage this is the place for you. Susan and Neil are some of the warmest people I've met. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We've booked to stay again in 6 weeks and can't wait .

As we've already said we can't fault our time away in Gabriel's. I'm just thankful you have given others the opportunity to share your beautiful little idle away from it all Thank you for welcoming us so warmly. I really felt at ease very quickly xx

Ben 17 - 19 September 2017

Thank you Susan and Neil. This was a weekend to remember and the Wagon was brilliant. We'll certainly be back.

Dave September 2017

A beautiful little home in a stunning location. Wind down and live the slow life for a while. We spent the weekend in the wagon doing little to nothing, taking a break after a busy week. The log burner kept us cosy and warm and the goodies provided filled our stomachs and made for a fantastic change after many days of camping food. This place truly is a gem and we will be going again!          PS I think we may have already made it clear but we absolutely loved our stay and will be looking to come again!

Lynn 18 -21 August 2017

We left definitely feeling 'happy'! This is a true gem. The most idillic and quiet location with outstanding views. Perfect whatever the weather; we loved sitting in the outdoor space listening to the heavy rain. We also had a campfire and toasted marshmallows in the stunning surroundings. The interior completely epitomised 'cosy'. So cute yet spacious. The log burner, bamboo sheets, candles and blankets we used when a little chilly outside. The cutest bathroom with pink interior and roll top bath also had lots of nice touches. On arrival we were welcomed with so many lovely treats from home made cider and jams to fresh flowers and local bread. The attention to detail was outstanding including the special family history behind the overall concept, which made this a truly unique place both for the family as well as guests. A place we will never forget and will without doubt be back. The perfect place to spend our first wedding anniversary. Thank you x  Perfect in every way x

Wonderful peaceful place to stay. The wagon is warm and cozy, no need to worry about cold evenings with the wood burner keeping you toasty. All the little touches made it even more special. Would highly recommend So sorry we had to leave so early today. We are now at our cabaret in London, so we made it in time! Thank you for such a lovely time. Staying at Happy on The Hill was the highlight of our time away. Sorry we didn't get to meet you personally Susan, we will next time!

Catherine 8 - 10 August 2017

We had such a lovely time. Susan and Neil were wonderful hosts. Our toddler loved meeting their dogs! The views were beautiful, bed was wonderfully comfortable and having a bath with the door open looking across the fields was awesome. Wish we had stayed longer! The covered veranda meant you could sit outside and enjoy the views even in wet weather.

Anna And Rhydian 31 Jul - 3 August 2017

We had a perfect stay at 'Happy on the hill'. The wagon was cosy and very tastefully decorated in beautiful and peaceful location. Susan and Neil were great hosts, very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our little chats with them. Highly recommended for a 'get away from it all' holiday. We are already thinking about booking our next visit!

Katie 22 - 24 July 2017

A beautiful location makes this place great from the off! The wagon itself was also really cosy. It was a bit of a drizzly rainy weekend, and the wagon was perfect for this! We had the log fire going, there's also nothing cosier than having a bath with the door open when it's raining :-) The wagon was also perfectly stocked with food and useful bits so thank you Susan. Susan greeted us and left us to enjoy the quiet too so a great combo! Thank you for the lovely cake you left us and making our stay so comfortable :-)

David 1 -5 Jul 2017

Simply incredible and everything is as advertised. Do yourself a favour and stay here. You won't regret it!                Susan - you were a simply amazing host and beautiful spirit. We miss Gabriel's Wagon already!

Soelene 22 -25 June 2017 ·

The happiness started when we met Susan, then continued when we discovered all the lovingly details of the Wagon...from the home-made jams to the little wood burner...all so perfect. Super comfortable bedlinen, very clean throughut and super comfy, this was definitely the right place to stay during our very first trip to Glastonbury. Thank you Susan and Neil for such great hospitality! Thank you for your kindness and generosity..and for building this dream of a space where we felt very happy. Every detail was perfect!

My girlfriend and I had a lovely four night stay at Gabriel's Wagon. During our stay there we visited Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury, both within straightforward cycling distance. We also enjoyed a trip to Bruton for the Packhorse fair. It was a pleasure to return to the wagon in the evening where there was ample space for relaxation while enjoying the view.

Louise 2 - 4 May 2017

I needed a place for a brief stay while I visited some dairies in Somerset, and was delighted at the idea of staying in a reclaimed railway car. Gabriel's wagon is a perfect spot. It's small and cosy. Incredibly quiet other than the birds. And you really are on top of a hill looking across at the most amazing view. Susan thought of everything and was most welcoming. I wished i could have stayed for a week, because I wasn't able to enjoy the spot as much as I could have. Make sure you go into Bruton and visit At the Chapel, a great restaurant with really decent bread as well. Gabriel's wagon is clean and well appointed. The linens were of high quality. It's the little things that mean the most when traveling. Louise

Emily 21 - 23 April 2017

Stunning location for a relaxing stay. Lovely hosts who leave you to enjoy your stay in peace. The accommodation is really well thought out and beautifully clean. Great base from which to explore the picturesque surrounding towns with good walks. Really appreciated the extra touches like hand drawn walking maps and local produce provided.

This place is fantabulously fabulously amazing :) still falling short of words. Tucked on a hill in the lap of nature this beautifully crafted railway wagon is just amazing. the view is to die for. All the necessary comforts made available susan's handmade jam and granola are to die for. The apple juice, Lamyatt cider, and sour bread are delicious. last but not the least the love care and warmth you receive from susan is the best. !!!!!! highlyyyyyy recommended with million to zillion stars :)

We absolutely loved it here! Loved all the little extras with the fresh bread and jams! The views were great and woke up to snow one morning! But even with snow outside, the cabin was warm and cosy with the fire burning. Also had a great walk and our springer loved it. Great communication with Susan and has even offered to post back my jacket I left there. Can't wait to come back in the summer!

Thank you so much for your hospitality! We have had such a wonderful time at Gabriel's Wagon, we don't want to leave! We will definitely be back!

Kat Cooper. December 2016

WOW what a beautiful little cabin this is! My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful time. We were greeted by Susan's husband on arrival who was kind enough to tell us all about the local walking tracks, and told us where to go if we needed anything. After this we didn't see him or anyone else for the rest of our stay, it really is a secluded, peaceful little spot. Perfect if you and your partner/family just want to be alone. We fell in love with the cabin as soon as we arrived, the log burner was lit, and the space is beautifully organised. A welcome letter explained everything we would need to know about our stay, from suggested walks, places to eat and description of how everything works the cabin. Susan and her husband have really added a personal touch to this lovely little home, and were so kind to have included complimentary local fresh apple juice and the best home made granola! Every morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast whilst looking out in to this beautiful valley, watching the nature from the comfort of the cosy cabin. We cannot believe just HOW WARM it was, who would have thought, on a cold December weekend we would be opening the windows to allow in the fresh countryside air! The only disappointment is that we had to leave - we cannot wait to come back sometime in the new year :)

Belinda Ewers.   November 2016

This little piece of heaven is perfect for a quiet get away. Simplicity and fresh food at its finest. The host communication was great, easy to follow instructions and very friendly. Would highly recommend. We had a beautiful weekend and a much needed relaxing getaway from London The lemon cake was delectable as was the rest of the food.

The best getaway experience i've had so far! I was warmly welcomed by Susan when I arrived and she had already lit up the wood burner so the cabin was super toasty.. The photos on the website don't do justice to the beauty of the surroundings and the care and attention to detail that both Neil and Susan have put in to catering for a really special stay. Thank you for your generosity and for sharing such a beautiful space. I will definitely be back! This place is truly magical - thank you for the care and love you have so clearly put in to making it so beautiful for your guests.

We are still Happy from the Hill. Fantastic getaway - cosy, fun, stylish, friendly, romantic and dog paradise - can't fault it ️ Bruton is a little haven of good food and a lovely place to wander - Somerset Stylish! The local breakfast foods supplied in the Wagon were divine - hosts with the most!!

Loz Maisey.  October 2016

We had such a wonderful stay at the cabin my wife and I loved every minute of it. I'm sure we will be staying again in the future thank again.

Gabriel's Wagon proved to be a total sanctuary for my partner and I. We came here for our honeymoon and we could not have wished for a more idyllic place to unwind. From the moment of arriving we felt like we were being treated to something very special - Susan & Neil had already stoked up the woodburner and chilled two bottles of cider! I am in awe of the amount of attention to detail these two put into making a truly magical place. Susan & Neil were so friendly, and also very respectful of giving us our own space. We could step outside immediately into the beautiful Somerset hills (which I have fallen in love with) with wonderful walks and then relax back at the cabin surrounded by indulgences - from silky bamboo sheets, to the spread of local produce, not to mention the divine bath with a view. The only drawback was how hard it was to leave!

What a break! We loved every moment of staying in Susan's delightful converted wagon. A proper home away from home, it's a self-contained gem that - for us - made a perfect start to a long break. It's secreted away in blissful solitude away from everyday noise and with the most breathtaking view, the weather for our stay was perfect and we enjoyed whiling away the evening with good wine and better books on the decking, soaking in the scenery and the sounds of nature. It's self catering but masquerades as a bed and breakfast given all that goodies left in wait. The cupboards are stocked with all the essentials; before you've even thought 'damn, I forgot...' you'll find it. Cannot recommend staying here enough - we wish we'd had longer than two days.

Clare Browne.  September 2016

This is an absolutely idyllic and quite magical place. The location is delightful, the waggon is utterly charming and the hosts could not have been more welcoming. Home made bread and jam with eggs from Neil's hens were set out and an absolutely delicious lemon drizzle cake. I loved the little wood burning stove and the bamboo bed linen was so comfortable. 2 days were not enough and I am booking another stay in January.

Kaeleen Ohm.  September 2016

Susan and Neil were the most amazing hosts. Happy on the Hill is a dreamy getaway in a magical corner of the world and we only wish we could have stayed longer. The wagon was supplied with beautiful organic food which made for really nice, relaxed mornings. It really is the perfect place to be and we hope we can go back again one day.

Allison Domingo.    September 2016

Cannot praise this place enough. A perfect romantic and relaxing weekend getaway. Susan and Neil have gone above and beyond to create a perfect little haven. So many special little touches and attention to detail. The wagon is beautiful and so cosy with the log burner. The bathroom is gorgeous and bathing by candlelight looking across the fields is out of this world. It was my birthday and Susan had supplied a banner and delicious cake. Had the best sleeps ever in the bamboo sheets. We never wanted to leave. We will definitely be returning.

Gabriel’s Wagon is situated on the hill with your own garden, to the back of it is a public footpath and further to the side is the main house. The views from the garden / wagon are beautiful, which continue to the horizon and you're able to hear for miles around. The garden has a fire pit, which is briliant for evening meals watching the sun set. The wagon is build, decorated and supplied to a very high standard and quality and best we've seen thus far. Lots of lovely details and thoughtfulness is very evident all around the wagon from the stain glass arch windows to the wonderfully soft bamboo bedsheets, i.e., a home away from home. Susan and Neil were lovely, welcoming and considerate throughout our one week stay and was always on hand to help. A truly relaxed experience so much so we didn't leave the wagon for the whole duration with the exception of going for walks, which led to even more beautiful surround scenery.

Andrea Jackman.  August 2016

Susan and Neil did a terrific job of making us feel at home in their lovely wagon. Everything was laid on beautifully with a generous supply of quality goodies in the fridge. Susan had gone out of her way to put up a birthday banner and provide a small delicious cake for our special occasion. My lasting memory will be of sitting in a pink, roll top bath watching the deer play in the fields beyond to the sound of buzzards wheeling overhead. Fantastic! We have come home recharged and revitalised but trying not to mention it in front of the dog as she would also have loved it.

Ian and Claire.  August 2016

A beautiful and tranquil place to get awy from it all, We have enjoyed a much needed rest up here on the hill. We could not have asked for a better place to relax and unwind. Over our short stay we have been "Happy on the Hill."

Harriet Spain.  August 2016

What a wonderful Mini-Moon we had at Happy on the Hill! Such a beautiful place, we come from the New Forest so we know a beautiful place when we see one! Perfect for myself, my new husband and our 4 month old Labrador puppy...I think she thought she was in heaven! All the home made treats were just delicious!

Milly August 2016

Lovely welcome, serene spot overlooking the English Somerset countryside. Cute little wagon. Cosy evenings by the outdoor log fire. Very nice. A very pleasant couple of days. Even cosier when it rained!

Cathryn Binnie. August 2016

We had the most amazing stay at Happy On the Hill! Our hosts were just fantastic and they have created an amazing retreat the perfect place to recharge and relax. The setting is gorgeous!

Clare Torrible. July 2016

We really can't recommend this place more highly! It's so peaceful and cosy, with everything you could need for a relaxing break. The location is perfect! The valley view right on the doorstep, accessible from the comfort of the wagon or out on the veranda. Every detail seems to have been thought about with comfort and convenience in mind. There were great personal touches as well and the locally sourced food and drink went down a treat. Susan and Simon were great hosts and always on hand to answer any questions and it's just a shame we didn't have more time but we're pretty set on heading back, maybe for a wintry get away next time.

Celine Bundi.  July 2016

We had a wonderful time at Gabriel's Wagon. Susan and Neil are just great hosts. They were very friendly and helpful and always there when we needed them. The wagon is absolutely beautiful and the landscape is amazing. We really enjoyed our stay.

David Anderson.  July 2016

We absolutely loved staying at Happy on the Hill. Susan and Neil were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we spent many tranquil mornings sipping tea on the porch and enjoying the eggs and granola so generously provided for us. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are loads of lovely little villages and towns to visit; we particularly enjoyed the short drives in to Wells, Bruton, Cheddar and Bath. The weather was a bit chilly at times for July, so the wood burner was a wonderful addition which we used multiple times a day! All in all, we really enjoyed staying in the wagon, surrounded by lush greenery and chirping birds; it is truly a place to unwind, relax, and enjoy each other's company. Would absolutely recommend!

Ella Dimambro.  July 2016

Wow!! Where do I start?! I surprised my boyfriend with a weekend away here and it was the best decision! On arrival we were welcomed with birthday bunting and a cake as well as all the little extras that already come with this stay!! I honestly can not fault this place. I can not thank Susan and Neil enough. It's beautifully designed and furnished - the whole concept is peaceful and beautiful and it's now become our little escape. We will be returning and we can not wait !! Xxxxx

Donna and Clare.  July 2016

Struggling to find the right words to describe how truly lovely our weekend on the hill has been. Surrounded by the tranquility and beauty of nature outside and the most delightful creature comforts inside. This really is a wonderful place. Already planning our next stay.

Susie & Greg.  July 2016

This has been a long awaited and well deserved break for us and it could not have been more perfect. The cabin/wagon is so comfortable with lovey little luxuries like the yummy breakfast things and bamboo sheets. The views are stunning, the surroundings peaceful and the hosts so generous and kind.

Tracey Wells.   June 2016

Totally fabulous! Gorgeous location, great hosts, beautifully & thoughtfully equipped - reluctant to express how great this place is, as I want to keep it just for me!!!

Josephine Pettiman.  June 2016

The most wonderful place we have visited in the UK. Beautiful views, amazing space and FANTASTIC hosts. I couldn't recommended Happy on the Hill highly enough - we are already planning our return.

Leo and Sharon Littman.  June 2016

Susan and Neil couldn't have made us feel any more welcome. The moment we arrived they greeted us with smiles, all the information we could need, and yummy food for the follow day's breakfast. The description was accurate but couldn't do justice to this wonderful get-away-from-it-all location. The neighbourhood is a hilltop lane, surrounded by fields. With the exception of Susan and Neil, our only neighbours were the birds and a nearby herd of cows. We loved Everything! More specifically: the peace, the greenery, and the views. We sat on the covered outside deck for hours on end, watching the birds and the way the scenery changed with the weather. Inside the wagon, the bed was very comfy, the woodburner made the place lovely and warm, and best of all the bathroom, which allowed you to luxuriate while watching the world through the open door, was magical. So much so that it inspired my wife, Sharon, to write a poem about our stay. Susan asked if she could share the poem on their website, so we hope it'll soon be available for everyone to read. It expresses our view of this wonderful place better than any review can.

Rhiannon Gray.  June 2016

What a beautiful place! Susan looked after us wonderfully. We enjoyed the beautiful Wagon along with its fantastic yummy local produce (the cider in particular) we enjoyed cooking outside on the fire wok whilst enjoying stunning views over Glastonbury. The perfect peaceful retreat. We shall most definitely be returning!

Richard and Katie Hawker.  June 2016

We were welcomed by Neil upon arrival who talked us through the facilities. We were in immediate awe of both the view and the stunning location of Gabriel's Wagon, this really is something very special and unique and has to be seen to be believed. Our two night stay over the weekend was a perfect tonic, you can't help but relax, the environment soothes and embraces you and the place just has so much quaint character Everything on site was so well thought out, lovely fresh bread, local produce and a Shelf full of interesting books. We explored Bruton, with all of its nice independent shops and its country feel and pretended that we lived in beautiful South Somerset.... just for a couple of days! Thank you Neil and Susan, your vision and attention to detail really made our weekend special, we will always think fondly of Gabriel's Wagon and look forward to returning.

Paul Jackson. June 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at the wagon. We were perfectly relaxed - the setting is beautiful and very tranquil - we loved gazing over the hills whilst in the bath. The bed is SOOO comfortable and the log burner makes is so warm and cosy that we barely wanted to leave! Walks from the doorstep and delicious provisions that kept us going: we couldn't have asked for more. We thoroughly recommend!

Anna & Tristran Quin.  May 2016

We had a lovely time staying at happy on the hill - beautiful views, cute wagon and wonderful hosts! Thanks so much for an unforgettable stay!

Claiborne Mitchell.  May 2016

Our hosts Susan & Neil welcomed us so warmly that we immediately settled into Gabriel's Wagon knowing it was going to be hard to leave. We had 3 blissful days Happy On The Hill ~ the location is spectacular, the Wagon so comfortable, the walks directly through the gate magical and a fire pit outside a bonus. Neil & Susan had provided wonderful local cider, apple juice and all necessary scrumptious organic provisions upon arrival so that we were able to hunker down and enjoy just being there ~ I cannot recommend this escape enough. Susan & Neil have created an atmosphere that lends itself to bliss! Every detail has been lovingly thought through & tended; to soak in a hot bath with the door wide-open onto the rolling land, endless wood for the wood burning stove, terrific books (discovered the stunning The Old Ways by Robert Macfarlane), cards and the deck apportioned to a view that is peaceful and breathtaking. All that hosting can be is complete at Happy On The Hill ~ thank you, thank you. We will SO be back!

Huw Morgan.  May 2016

What a lovely, peaceful and magical weekend we had at Happy on the Hill. It's picture perfect with its stunning views from the very cool veranda, and beautiful interior. The warm welcome we had from Susan and Neil, the homemade jams, tasty apple and blackcurrant compote, the sourdough bread and more that was left for us just added to the magic of the whole experience. Would love to keep this as our little secret, but everybody needs to visit! We have plans to come back, and for longer than two nights next time. Besi our three legged dog will be thrilled to have a whole field as her garden once again! Thank you Susan and Neil for sharing your beautiful corner of the world with us. X .

Hannah Long.  May 2016

Wow what a fantastic place in the Somerset Hills. From the moment we arrived the views were breathtaking and Gabriel's wagon is the perfect place to get away from everyday life. It is such a romantic setting and we enjoyed sitting on the verandah with a glass of wine taking in the views. The log burning stove was brilliant and the wagon was lovely and warm. The homemade jam, marmalade and granola were delicious and all the other little extras fresh bread, fresh eggs and the Lamyatt cider and apple juice made the whole experience even more special. Susan was a fantastic host and we are definitely going to book again in the summer.

Stephanie Williams.   May 2016

This is our new 'favourite' place in the UK! We loved our stay at the wagon. The wagon is a great space with a well equipped little kitchen, comfy bed and luxurious bathroom. We loved cooking outside on the fire and enjoyed many local/homemade treats that were left for us (perhaps too spoilt!). Susan and Neil were great hosts, giving us a warm welcome on arrival but then leaving us to explore the wagon and surrounding area in our own time. We loved the 'middle of no where' feeling, amazing views, sunsets, country walks, local food, open fire, bubble baths. Simply glorious! We will be back just as soon as we can be!

Freddie Stotesbury. May 2016

Wonderful stay! I found susan very welcoming and helpful. a beautiful little gem in the Somerset hills.

Sarah, Martin and Effie.  May 2016

This was our trip away from home with our daughter Effie (3 months) and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Gabriel's Wagon is just so cosy and the view spectacular, especially in the uncharacteristically fine Bank Holiday weather! We had a lovely walk into and around Bruton and another local circuit down to Lamyatt Church, plus lots of time to relax in the wagon and on the deck. Effie loved it here and slept so much better that we had predicted. Susan and Neil were the warmest kindest hosts. The breakfast ingredieants were heaven and delicious takeaway pizzas from The Chapel in Bruton. We are very sad to be leaving and hope we will be able to return before Effie gets too big!

Jo Munnik April 2016

Had the most wonderful weekend at Happy on the Hill. The cabin, the views, the hospitality was all exceptional. Thank you to Susan and Neil for spoiling us and making us feel so at home. It was such a treat! And could not recommend it highly enough. Also, the scenery snd nearby towns are totally charming! And all very dog friendly.

Drew Warnke April 2016

A UNIQUE & TRANQUIL RETREAT!! The wagon is fantastic! It has everything you could possibly want and the views hold the rest. Susan & Neil have an amazing treasure here and they make you feel very welcome indeed. Lavishing gifts not only on the humans but animals alike... We were treated to home-made granola, fresh baked bread & scrumptious local cider (which was perfect not only in, but alongside the casserole made whilst staying). The dogs even got cosy beds and doggie treats to nibble...!! I have already earmarked friends I shall be returning with. Thank you both so so much!!

Mathew and Jae April/May 2016

The wagon was SO cosy and comfortable with everything you needed and more! The lemon drizzle cake was deliscious xx We had such an amazing lovely time throughout our stay and thanks to the wonderful location, we were able to enjoy the neighbouring nature! We hope to  visit you again soon!

Jake and Jess.  February 2016

We had a wonderful stay in Gabriel's Wagon. Despite the chill outside, every moment of our holiday was relaxing and tranquil. We particularly enjoyed the wood-burning stove, although we did have a dispute over the which of us made the best fire -( hers a bit fire light heavy for my taste.) Loved the walks out. thank you very much and look forward to staying again soon.

Josh, Becky, Buster and Rufus the dog. London E17 February 2016

We didn't know whether we were a bit crazy coming to Gabriel's Wagon with our 4 month old boy - Buster in windy, rainy February... As it turned out, we feel like it was an inspired idea! What a beautiful, special place to stay, how warm and cosy with the wood-burning stove, what a gorgeous view.. we spent most of our time in the wagon reading books and playing cards and dominoes and when we did go out, although its such a beautiful part of the World, we almost felt like we were missing out on time in the wagon. You were TOO generous with all the delicious local food and thank you so much for the Valentine Buns and newspaper etc, it made our morning. We will come for a whole week next time.

Cath Wakeman  January 2016

We love Gabriel's Wagon, every little detail was just perfect and we made sure that we tried out the bath, the candles, the wood-burner, the very comfortable bed and the view from the toilet with the door open! We will be back very soon with our new puppy in tow.

Victoria 30 Dec - 2 Jan ·2016

Gabriel's wagon is the perfect romantic getaway. Beautiful spot in the country, within good walks to two lovely local towns. Susan is an amazing host, who really goes the extra mile. The fire was lit for our arrival and the breakfast goodies are lovely. I especially enjoyed the homemade granola. The wagon is equipped with everything you need and has been beautifully decorated. The roll top bath is a treat too! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay and would have happily stayed longer. We recommend this place to anyone who loves the country and cosy romantic getaways! 5 stars.

Vicki December 2015

Thank you for a fabulous stay. The wagon is gorgeous and you made us feel so welcome with the lovely breakfast and goodies in the fridge. Your hospitality was more than we would expect, especially driving Zak to our car today whilst I felt unwell. I really appreciated it and was sorry I wasn't up to coming for tea. We will definitely recommend your place!

Myrddin   December 2015

What a comfortable space you have created and so nicely preserved; a beautiful place to stay with lovely local treats to eat and drink. There was easily enough room for us and our little one. The wood-burner is sized just right, with it barely ticking over, it kept the place toasty, which means it is no hardship to spend plenty of time outside knowing you can then come into the warm.  It is definitely somewhere you can come and leave everything behind and have a good break! We look forward to coming to stay again soon.

Paul and Mary   September  2015

'Happy on the Hill'? - definitely! What a fabulous, relaxing break. The wagon was a pure delight - warm, comfortable and well equipped. Loved the bathroom too. We spent hours relaxing on the deck, taking in the distant views - we didn't want to leave.
